Description

Applies engineering knowledge and skills to create world-class products incorporating VPS' electrochemical and process technologies, meeting customer requirements for cost, quality and delivery
Perform engineering analyses to ensure product function, reliability, manufacturability and cost, including structural, fluid, thermal, chemical, material, and electrical
Design and/or manage product verification and validation test campaigns; collect and analyze performance and reliability data and lead design improvement campaigns
Own, maintain and continuously improve company's engineering tolls and methods, and establish a company-wide system for perpetuating technical lessons learned
Lead, supervise, mentor and develop product engineering staff, work closely with Operations to ensure accuracy of product documentation, in accord with product development and change control processes
Demonstrated technical acumen in areas including structural analysis (FEA), thermal and fluid analysis, design for manufacturing/assembly (machining, sheet metal, casting, welding, electrical wiring/harness design)
Deep knowledge of 3D parametric solid modeling required (SolidWorks or equivalent), sound experience with both mechanical and electrical design/documentation methodologies (including GD&T)

Experience & Education
|
BS/MS, Chemical/Mechanical Engineering, and
5 years experience managing technical personnel in functional and/or project contexts, and
10 years combined experience in product development, design and/or manufacturing engineering, and
Project leadership involving design and development of mechanical, electrical and/or electrochemical systems and products (for power system or automotive, energy or appliance applications preferred), and
Strong leadership presence and a demonstrated ability to inspire staff and influence peers

Qualifications
|
Experience with formal development processes, problem-solving methodologies and/or quality control practices
Superior organizational skills and discipline with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a quickly changing environment while ensuring attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
