Board of Directors

Joseph G. Mahler, Chairman

Mr. Mahler is Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, Corporate Secretary, and Treasurer of FuelCell Energy of Danbury, CT. He has responsibility for finance, accounting, corporate strategy, treasury, information systems and human resources. Previously, Mr. Mahler was Vice President and CFO at Earthgro, Inc. and worked at Ernst & Young in the New York and Hartford offices and was a partner in the Hartford Office’s Entrepreneurial Services Group. He received his BS in accounting from Boston College.

Robert A. Stokes,

Christopher R. Bentley

Mr. Bentley has been responsible for Government Research and Development Operations and Strategic Manufacturing Development since January of 2005. He joined FuelCell Energy in 1990 to develop manufacturing and operations capability in support of the DFC commercialization initiative. He served on the Board of Directors from 1993 to 2004. Prior to joining FCE he was Director of Manufacturing (1985), Vice-President and General Manager (1985-1988) and President (1989) of the Turbine Airfoils Division of Chromalloy Gas Turbine Corporation, a major manufacturer of gas turbine hardware. From 1960 to 1985 he was with the General Electric Company where he served a four-year apprenticeship and completed the GE Manufacturing Management Program prior to a series of increasingly responsible manufacturing positions. Mr. Bentley received a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University.

Kevin R. Evans

Kevin R. Evans is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). Mr. Evans has an extensive background spanning over twenty years in a number of industries: transportation, banking, manufacturing, distribution services, communications and technology. In those fields, he held officer level finance and operating positions in businesses ranging from start-ups to Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining EPRI in 2003, he was the Chief Financial Officer for PlaceWare, Inc., which was sold to Microsoft. Mr. Evans holds a dual bachelor's degree in Economics and Management from Sonoma State University and a MBA from San Diego State University.

David C. Carroll

Mr. Carroll is President of the Gas Technology Institute. He joined GTI in 2001 as Vice President of Business Development. Previously, he was Director of Business Development at Praxair, Inc., and also worked with Liquid Carbonic Industries, a subsidiary of Chicago Bridge & Iron. He earned a MBA from Lehigh University and a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

Quinton B. Ford

Mr. Ford is Director, Commercialization for the Gas Technology Institute (GTI), and is responsible for optimizing the market impact and return of GTI developed technologies. He also serves as President of GTI subsidiaries GRI International and Cement Lock Group LLC, and as a director of CrystaTech Incorporated and Varidigm Corporation. Previously, Mr. Ford held executive marketing and business unit leadership roles with companies including Senior PLC and Nanophase Technologies Corporation. He received a BS in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Anil V. Virkar

Dr. Virkar is Professor and Chair of the Department of Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Utah, co-founder and Vice President of Materials and Systems Research, Inc. (MSRI). He also was a founder of Ceramatec, Inc. He is Fellow of the American Ceramic Society, and a member of The Electrochemical Society and the American Society for Metals. He is an author or co-author of over 180 research articles, and an inventor or co-inventor on more than 35 patents. Many of his articles and patents are on Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) technology. He has done extensive research on SOFCs, and is internationally recognized for his work in this area. He received his PhD from Northwestern University in Materials Science.

Rajiv K. Kulkarni

(Non-voting Member) Dr. Kulkarni is the Senior Licensing Manager at the University of Utah, Technology Transfer Office.
